Cultural differences can pose a challenge for those of us who may have little or no previous exposure to a Western work setting. Our Culture Tips section aims to explain the values, assumptions, and expectations that may underlie our Western colleagues’ work styles and identify cultural barriers that may be preventing work style adjustment. With greater awareness and understanding, we are better positioned to create sustainable and collaborative relationships with our Western counterparts and superiors.
